Shenk's Homestead 2025 Release is a limited-edition Kentucky Sour Mash Whiskey from Michter's prestigious Legacy Series, paying tribute to John Shenk, who founded the distillery that would eventually become Michter's. Produced using the traditional sour mash process and made with a substantial amount of rye, the 2025 release showcases a distinctive combination of rich sweetness, warming spice and refined oak character. Part of the whiskey was finished in toasted French oak barrels sourced from the Vosges region of France, adding an extra layer of complexity and spice.

Rich and full-bodied, the 2025 expression opens with aromas of toasty burnt sugar, honey and spice. The palate develops into layers of dried fruit, toffee, nougat and burnt sugar, with the rye-forward character providing a warming spicy backbone. Toasted French oak contributes additional depth and a lingering, beautifully integrated finish. Bottled at 45.6% ABV (91.2 proof), this is a sophisticated sipping whiskey that is best enjoyed neat or with a small splash of water.
