Established in 1910, the distillery blends its whiskies using a combination of Japanese whisky and imported malt whisky from Scotland—a practice not uncommon among Japanese whisky producers. However, the precise composition of the blend remains undisclosed, leading to debate about how authentically Japanese these whiskies truly are. Whisky reviewer Serge from whisky-fun.com remarks, “Some friends from over there – whom I trust – declared that all Kurayoshis were actually Scottish.” Flavor-wise, they share a resemblance to smooth Highland Scotch whiskies.
